Wellington Alves da Silva
This flashy young star arrives to Levante on a loan deal from the legendary English club Arsenal. Silva has arrived in the winter transfer market and will remain with the team for the rest of the La Liga season. If the Spanish club are able to avoid relegation, Wellington could also stay on for next season's league campaign. The player had been on loan previously to the Brazilian club Fluminense, where he shined as a young talent breaking through into the first team. However, he soon fell out with the manager and was relegated to the bench for several months. Arsenal is now sending him on loan to Spanish club Levante, the "granotas" ("frogs" as the team and their supporters are affectionately known by in the valencian tongue).
Despite not speaking Spanish, the close resemblance between Portuguese and Spanish has allowed the player to grow closer to his teammates and the manager, Luis Garcia Plaza. Wellington's skills do not need translation as it is clear he will provide Levante with speed, agility and a great deal of skill on the pitch.
Only 18 years of age, Wellington Silva hopes to make a name for himself in Valencia and in La Liga to gain the experience necessary to return to Arsenal. In an interview with Spanish daily sports digest AS, Wellington stated: "I hope to have a great season. I want to adapt as quickly as possible. I want to train and play already because I have not played in a while and also to return the confidence to the club. In two weeks I'll be ready to play", he advertised to Levante fans, who eagerly await the arrival of the winger/forward in hopes that he can be key to the club obtaining the salvation of avoiding the bottom 3 relegation zone.
