Wigan manager Steve Bruce has handed a trial to French striker Joel Thomas as he bids to bolster his attacking options at the JJB.Thomas is looking for a new club after being released by Kaiserslautern at the end of last season.The 21-years-old,who had a trial at Dundee United in April,has spent the last few days training with Wigan.Thomas featured for Wigan in their friendly win over Hibernian on Tuesday and he is believed to have impressed during his stint at the JJB Stadium.Latics boss Steve Bruce will cast an eye over the forward before deciding whether or not to offer him a deal.

It is rumoured that Atlante C.F. striker Giancarlo Maldonado is heading to the Premiership to Wigan Athletic.He was the golden boot of America last season.

Reports are linking South Korean international striker Park Chu-young to Wigan Athletic but they have been denied by the player´s management.Wigan chairman Dave Whelan was meant to be watching the 23 year old striker in action for club side FC Seoul this weekend.
