Caceido and his replacement...

EntradaAutor: jordclarke14 Data: dg. jul. 17, 2011 9:37 pm

Can anyone update me on this? Has he officially gone? Also im a manchester city fan and there was nothing from the club that stated Levante took the agreed fee so is that official? I hope so because Levante need the money to replace him! Finally, who does it look like we might be getting in as his replacement? any rumours in the spanish press?

Levante officially took the Caicedo´s buy-clause into effect at the end of May. So his rights officially belong to Levante. I´m sure Manchester City was not going to publicize the sale. Levante will pay the approximately 1 million euros in installments over the coming year(s). Levante definitely do need the money that his future sale will undoubtedly produce. The deal to send Caicedo to Russian outfit Lokomotiv would bring in the kind of cash that can really make a difference for our club´s debt payments.

As far as a replacement, I would not expect anything soon, unfortunately. Caicedo´s Russian move is not official yet, as Levante are waiting to see about guarantees the Russians will come good on the money promised. Assuming there is no obstacle there, the sale can proceed, as Caicedo seems to be okay with the move which would give him a huge salary increase and the possibility of playing in major european competitions. Levante will probably wait for the transfer market to wind down to make a move. If the club waits, there is a chance that another "Caicedo" could come late in the transfer window and at a reasonable price.

The club is rumored to be very interested in recovering Javi Guerra, who had a big year at Valladolid in Spanish 2nd Division. He played for Levante on-loan from Mallorca the year before before moving to Valladolid. His price-tag is the only inconvienence, as he will have plenty of european teams wanting to sign him and Levante cannot afford to enter a bidding war. However, the player has a great past here and enjoyed one of his best seasons in the maroon and blue, so I wouldn´t be surprised at all if he pushed Valladolid to let him stay in Spain and return to Levante. Let´s hope!

The only other rumored striker was Toché who ended up signing with a Greek club. He didn´t want to take a salary cut to play for Levante.

Ok, thanks. Thats good news about the club becoming more financially solid from the deal then. Still think we need to replace him though but i suppose its a good idea to wait until late in the transfer window to try and snap up another bargain!

Just looked at the British PFA list of free agents, i know its a long shot and wages may be higher then the club would currently budget for but John Carew would be a fantastic signing i think as he is built in a similar mould to that of Caciedo just obviously less pace but very good in the air. What do you guys think?

Also maybe not as an out and out striker but James Mcfadden has been released and at only 28 definately has something to offer! Maybe again out of our wage structure but i think after staying up last season and having a big boost due to the sale of Caciedo we should be aiming higher!

Other notable strikers on the list include Marlon Harewood, Jason Euell, Marcus Bent... non of which i believe to be good enough for us.

I don't think I like Carew because I think he's not what Llevant needs. I think that Llevant needs is a lower profile player. I don't doubt he's a great player, but what I mean is that usually this high profile players come here not to work as hard as they sould. And my opinion is that players with a lower profile usually are better for the team than the higher profile ones.

Caicedo really had the kind of profile that Levante needs: players who speak Spanish, who are either young or past 30, who really have something to prove. I think Caicedo´s replacement will either come from Spain or from the South/Central American market. I say "Spanish-speakers" because virtually all of the players on the team are native Spanish-speakers, Wellington being the exception, and being able to speak the language makes the transition to the team and the Spanish game and lifestyle a WHOLE lot easier.

Our main focus needs to be getting either JAVI GUERRA or STUANI. Two players who know the club very well and who have been successful here. We will have to pay a bit for each of them though. I think Stuani could come easier as he has only one year left on his contract with Reggina, after which he goes free.

Caceido is definately a better player then Jo, unfortunately he can't cut it in the premier league so i see no reason why he would do very well in la liga. Caceido has and had much more potential at City which is why many of us fans dont understand why he kept getting loaned out, he would of been a good squad player. Anyway, back on to Jo... he has already anounced that he is leaving City and going back to Brazil, best place for him! Did Stuani do well last season?

We signed ARANDA. He was free, but doesn´t seem to have impressed anyone...

Jô Alves would probably be the only accesible player from City, but hes not the Caicedo profile. Stuani scored 8 goals in the league 2 in the Cup. He was GREAT at scoring goals away from home. I would have loved to have Stuani back as the 1º or 2º striker. It could be that the club had to make a sacrifice by bringing ARANDA, so that they could bring someone like Javi Guerra. Let´s hope so!!

Even if Caicedo is better than Jô I know that is not possible making such a great deal every year. And maybe, if the relationship with City is good we may try Jô in a loan.

I haven't seen much about him, but seems like Osasuna fans are not so unhappy with him leaving. I hope time will prove them wrong.
And I've read he's not a really able guy, but at least he challenges every ball.
And you asked before how did Stuani last season, I think he had a good season, 8 goals being almost always a second choice. I think that if possible he'll be a good signing, but what I don't like is that Jordà and Aranda are big men just as Stuani, and bringing him back will make Levante a team with few different attacking possibilities.

Cameroon international striker Pierre Webo wishes his club RCD Mallorca releasing him (he only has 1 year left on his contract). He has plenty of experience in the topflight in Spain with Osasuna (where he played with Aranda and Juanlu) and Mallorca (where he played with Ballesteros). He would be the right successor to Caicedo
